USA: Democratic Party Approves Marriage Equality Platform Plank   ThinkProgress reports: Yesterday, the Democratic Party platform drafting committee unanimously approved languageendorsing same-sex marriage as a plank in the platform. According to a DNC staffer, the plank supports marriage equality as well as the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. It also includes support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. The decision reflects not only the support of President Obama, but of prominent Democratic leaders across the country who have spoken out on behalf of the freedom to marry for same-sex couples.
