Maureen Dowd On The Catholic Church
Via her column on The New York Times:

"The church insists it’s an argument about religious freedom, not birth control. But, really, it’s about birth control, and women’s lower caste in the church. It’s about conservative bishops targeting Democratic candidates who support contraception and abortion rights as a matter of public policy. And it’s about a church that is obsessed with sex in ways it shouldn’t be, and not obsessed with sex in ways it should be. The bishops and the Vatican care passionately about putting women in chastity belts. Yet they let unchaste priests run wild for decades, unconcerned about the generations of children who were violated and raped and passed around like communion wine."

And of course, “Moron Of The Week" Inductee Bill Donohue didn’t appreciated and wrote a piece mocking her eloquent and accurate opinion:

"My Dearest Maureen, I have a confession to make. While some may think you sound like a delusional weepy woman, don’t listen to them. You see, I was in on those meetings with the bishops when we hatched plans to stick it to women and sabotage the Democrats. We met over drinks. Plenty of them. Except for one bishop who said over time women could become our equal, all of us agreed that you gals need to be kept in your place. As you properly note, this means being subjugated to the lower caste, just the way we snookered Mother Teresa."You are only partly right about the Democrats. In fact, starting last year our goal was to rig the Republican primary so that Romney would win. Why? Because then we could pull his Mormon strings without being accused of running the government. So far, so good. Just don’t tell Mitt. We are obsessed about sex. Indeed, when I meet with the bishops, it’s the only thing we talk about. Admittedly, it sometimes feels like I’m at a frat party, but boys will be boys. There is one difference: at frat parties, chastity belts for women are never discussed, but with the bishops, nothing is more important."

“Moron Of The Week" Inductee Bill Donohue: I’m A Freak & I Like It!
Via Catholic League’s website:

The new normal is yesterday’s abnormal: what was seen as bizarre, if not literally crazy, is now seen as normal. The converse is also true: those who still value the judiciously exercised role of shame, guilt and modesty are now seen as representative of the new abnormal. Put differently, if it were our goal to create moral anarchy, we couldn’t have done a better job. There is a risk in pointing this out, but it’s worth being tagged the new abnormal.

“Moron Of The Week" Inductee Bill Donohue: Nicki Minaj Is Possessed
Via The Catholic League’s website:

Minaj’s performance began on stage with a mock confessional skit. This was followed by a taped video depicting a mock exorcism. With stained glass in the background, she appeared on stage again with choir boys and monks dancing. Perhaps the most vulgar part was the sexual statement that showed a scantily clad female dancer stretching backwards while an altar boy knelt between her legs in prayer. Finally, ‘Come All Ye Faithful’ was sung while a man posing as a bishop walked on stage; Minaj was shown levitating. None of this was by accident, and all of it was approved by The Recording Academy, which puts on the Grammys. Whether Minaj is possessed is surely an open question, but what is not in doubt is the irresponsibility of The Recording Academy. Never would they allow an artist to insult Judaism or Islam. It’s bad enough that Catholics have to fight for their rights vis-à-vis a hostile administration in Washington without also having to fend off attacks in the entertainment industry. The net effect, however, will only embolden Catholics, as well as their friends in other faith communities.

I’m liking Minaj even more for pissing off Donohue.

“Moron Of The Week" Inductee Bill Donohue Asks Christians To Adopt Atheist This Christmas
The Catholic League posts on its website:

Catholic League president Bill Donohue explains why the Catholic League is starting a new initiative aimed at atheists:Approximately 80 percent of Americans are Christian, and 96 percent celebrate Christmas. Of the 20 percent who are not Christian, non-believers make up the largest segment, though the number of self-identified atheists is tiny. David Silverman, president of American Atheists, knows this to be true, which is why he is frantically trying to inflate his base. “We want people to realize that there may be atheists in their family,” he told the New York Times, “even if those atheists don’t even know they are atheists.”We think there is some merit in David’s idea, even if he has things backwards, as usual. Today we are launching our “Adopt An Atheist” campaign, the predicate of which is, “We want atheists to realize that there may be Christians in their community, even if those Christians don’t even know they are Christian.”Here’s what our campaign entails. We are asking everyone to contact the American Atheist affiliate in his area [click here], letting them know of your interest in “adopting” one of them. All it takes is an e-mail. Let them know of your sincere interest in working with them to uncover their inner self. They may be resistant at first, but eventually they may come to understand that they were Christian all along. If we hurry, these closeted Christians can celebrate Christmas like the rest of us. As an added bonus, they will no longer be looked upon as people who “believe in nothing, stand for nothing and are good for nothing.”

What a wonderful campaign for this Pagan Holiday, isn’t it?

Moron Of The Week: Bill Donohue

For attacking Oscar-Winner actress (and Straight Ally) Susan Sarandon for referring to the Pope as a Nazi. Sarandon’s disputed comments came when she mentioned having given a copy of Dead Men Walking’s Book (a book which the film of the same title was based on, for which Sarandon won the Oscar by playing a nun) to then Pope John Paul II. Ratzinger (Benedict XVI) wasn’t a Nazi by choice but was indeed part of the Hitler’s Youth (as most of Germany’s children). However, to me, there ain’t much of a difference.

Blowhard Bill Donohue Vs. Oscar-Winner Actress Susan Sarandon

Joe.My.God. reports:

Catholic League blowhard Bill Donohue is deluging entertainment sites with a demand that Oscar winner Susan Sarandon apologize for referring to the pope as a Nazi. Donohue’s complaint has been joined by the Anti-Defamation League.

"Susan Sarandon’s ignorance is willful: those who have hatred in their veins are not interested in the truth," Donohue said in a statement. Donohue said that the pope was conscripted at the age of 14 w"hile living in Nazi occupied Bavaria, but refused to attend meetings and deserted the group "at the first opportunity." He said the pope’s refusal to go along with the organization brought hardship to his family. Across the faith-based aisle, Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, called the actress’ comments "uncalled for." "Ms. Sarandon may have her differences with the Catholic Church, but that is no excuse for throwing around Nazi analogies," Foxman said in a statement. "Such words are hateful, vindictive and only serve to diminish the true history and meaning of the Holocaust."
Sarandon won her Oscar for playing a Catholic nun in Dead Man Walking. Her disputed comments came when she mentioned having given a copy of the movie’s book to then Pope John Paul II, “not this Nazi one we have now.”

Christopher Hitchens VS Bill Donohue On Mother Teresa

THE HAGUE: Pope Benedict Accused Of Crimes Against Humanity
Joe.My.God. reports:

At the International Criminal Court in The Hague, representatives of victims of child abuse today filed a formal accusation against Pope Benedict and other top Catholic officials, charging them with crimes against humanity for enabling pedophile priests.
The submission, lodged at The Hague on Tuesday, accuses the four men not only of failing to prevent or punish perpetrators of rape and sexual violence but also of engaging in the “systematic and widespread” practice of concealing sexual crimes around the world. It includes individual cases of abuse where letters and documents between Vatican officials and others show a refusal to co-operate with law enforcement agencies seeking to pursue suspects, according to the Centre for Constitutional Rights (CCR), a US-based organisation that represents the claimants. Pam Spees, human rights attorney with CCR, said: “The point of this is to look at it from a higher altitude. You zoom out and the practices are identical: whistleblowers are punished, the refusal of the Vatican to co-operate with law enforcement agencies. You see the protection of priests and leaving them in the ministry and because of these decisions other children are raped and sexually assaulted.”
The above-linked report does not speculate on what legal repercussions, if any, this complaint may actually have on the Vatican or those accused.UPDATE: The Catholic League’s Bill Donohue reacts.
Most cases of molestation did not involve children, and they did not involve rape. The most common victim was a post-pubescent male victimized by homosexuals, the most common offense being “inappropriate touching.” The figures being bandied about are nothing more than a wild guess provided by the Church’s critics; they bear no relationship to reality. How do we know? Because when hard data are available on these matters, the projections are proven wholly inaccurate. Moreover, it is a lie to say that sexual abuse is being covered up at the highest levels of the Vatican. The homosexual scandal took place during the sexual revolution, and most of the offenses ended a quarter-century ago. To charge otherwise is scurrilous. The Holy See is not a member of the ICC, making it difficult to prosecute. Nonetheless, the Catholic League will contact the ICC today, providing documentation of our own that demonstrates how partisan this complaint really is.

See how that Donohue son of a bitch calls those incidents as “the homosexual scandal”?

Bill Donohue: We Shouldn’t Allow Gay Marriage Because People Still Get AIDS
Catholic League’s leader, and homophobe/pedophiles’ defender, Bill Donohue comments:
Before the New York State legislature decides whether to ratify homosexual marriage, it would be nice if one of the lawmakers were to ask what in the world is going on in the gay community. A new report issued by the New York City Health Department, “Take Care New York 2012: Tracking the City’s Progress,” shows that while progress is being made to stem smoking, the intake of sugary drinks, and teenage pregnancies, we are going backwards on preventing sexually transmitted diseases among gays.Between 2007-2009, there was a 6 percent decrease in gay men using condoms. Furthermore, homosexuals account for 60 percent of all newly diagnosed HIV infections each year; in addition, 60 percent of gays who have syphilis also have HIV. Moreover, 85 percent of gays with syphilis continue to have sex. It can’t be said that lack of education is the problem. In the last few years, New York City has featured a condom wrapping design contest, and has posted a NYC Condom Facebook page. Also, there is a NYC Condom Finder, a free app that uses GPS to find them. Moreover, condoms are distributed at 45 different events, including LGBT Pride events. During the years when condom use by gays declined, New York City gave away approximately 40 million free condoms per year!   The lawmakers need to ask gay leaders to testify about this issue. While they’re at it, they might also ask why, unlike all other parades in New York City, the organizers of the Gay Pride Parade (which is this Sunday), must warn marchers not to go naked in the streets. The public has a right to know.

Catholic League Publishes Full-Page Anti-Gay New York Times Ad

Joe.My.God. reports:

The Catholic League today published a full-page ad in the New York Times in which blowhard Bill Donohue blames the church’s pedophilia scandals on homosexuality. An excerpt:

The refrain that child rape is a reality in the Church is twice wrong: let’s get it straight—they weren’t children and they weren’t raped. We know from the John Jay study that most of the victims have been adolescents, and that the most common abuse has been inappropriate touching (inexcusable though this is, it is not rape). The Boston Globe correctly said of the John Jay report that “more than three-quarters of the victims were post pubescent, meaning the abuse did not meet the clinical definition of pedophilia.” In other words, the issue is homosexuality, not pedophilia. When the National Review Board, a group of notable Catholics, issued its study in 2004, the team’s chief, attorney Robert S. Bennett, said that “any evaluation of the causes and context of the current crisis must be cognizant of the fact that more than 80 percent of the abuse at issue was of a homosexual nature.” One of the members, Dr. Paul McHugh, former psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins, has said that “This behavior was homosexual predation on American Catholic youth, yet it’s not being discussed.” By the way, the figures after 2004 haven’t changed—eight in ten cases involve homosexuality. Worldwide, the Vatican estimates that 60 percent of the cases are same-sex, 30 percent are heterosexual and 10 percent involve pedophilia.

Read the entire ad.

Oh dear. I almost dropped my Bible & my joint when I read this.
How dare he saying that the child rape going on within the Catholic Church ain’t rape nor pedophilia? What a bigot! And of course, it was predictable that somehow, someday, they would be able to twist this and blame the gays for it. Shame on Bill Donohue and the entire Child Rape, Inc. (aka the Catholic Church).

The View Takes On The Catholic League’s Bill Donohue

Thou is sad that The Church turns it’s back to it’s own members in such way, but from a humanist point of view, just to continue on the point raised by the ladies about the Pedophile Priest, is also sad to see that according to the perception of the Church, an abortion is way worse than molesting children. And as a Fallen Catholic/Atheist, I’ll continue to criticize Religion, specially the Catholic Church.
