Police have released a sketch of a suspect in the shooting of a South Texas couple that left one dead and another wounded last month.
With help from a witness, Portland police described the alleged gunman as a skinny male in his 20s, weighing 140 pounds. The sketch was released late Wednesday. Mary Kristene Chapa, 18, and Mollie Judith Olgin, 19, were both found June 23 in a park with gunshot wounds to the head. Olgin died from her injuries and Chapa remains hospitalized. The two women were involved in a relationship, according to family and friends, though it’s not clear if that was the motive for the shootings. So far, the incident has not been ruled a hate crime. The couple had planned to spend time in the park before going to see a movie. Olgin’s family became worried when she didn’t show up for work the following morning. Portland Police Chief Randy Wright told msnbc.com the shooting appears to be a random act, but the investigation is ongoing. Police recovered a bullet casing at the scene, but no weapon. Witnesses told police they heard what could have been gunshots or firecrackers the night before the girls were found, but they never reported it.Chapa has not been formally interviewed by police because of her medical condition. The Texas Rangers joined the investigation, which is being led by Portland police, after offering their assistance. No one from the Portland Police Department was immediately available for comment.
NEW YORK CITY: Murderer Pleads Insanity In Grisly 2011 Killing Of His Boyfriend
In January 2011 New York City’s tabloids published daily grisly updates in the case of Portuguese model Renato Seabra, who stabbed to death and then castrated his wealthy and renowned fashion photographer boyfriend with a wine corkscrew in a midtown hotel. Seabra told the NYPD at the time that he had murdered Carlos Castro in order to free him of his “homosexual demons” and that he himself was “not gay anymore.” Yesterday Seabra’s lawyer pleaded an insanity defense. A 2011 court filing from the defense advised the court that Seabra believed that he was acting on direct orders from God. Via Gay City News reporter Duncan Osborne:
“Mr. Seabra developed a manic episode and became fulminantly psychotic,” David Touger, the attorney for Renato Seabra, wrote in a court filing last year. “He acted on his delusional ideas when he attacked and killed Mr. Castro. He did not appreciate the wrongfulness of his actions, as he was acting as a conduit for God.” This mental disease or defect defense, or insanity defense as it is more commonly known, asserts that because the now 22-year-old Seabra could not tell right from wrong when he killed Castro, he cannot be held criminally liable. If a jury agrees, Seabra will be institutionalized until doctors decide he is no longer a threat. His trial may start as soon as September. At a June 18 hearing, Touger and Maxine Rosenthal, the assistant district attorney who is prosecuting the case, said they wanted to go to trial soon. While some earlier press reports have noted that Seabra would use an insanity defense, none has noted that he claimed to be acting on God’s behalf. Seabra faces one second-degree murder count that alleges he intended to kill Castro. The maximum penalty for second-degree murder is 25-years-to-life.
According to a psychologist hired by the defense, Seabra suffered from “Bipolar I Disorder, Single Manic Episode, Severe with Psychotic features.” Seabra first came to national fame in Portugal after appearing on a male model reality show.
Canada: The Family Of Jun Lin (Luka Magnotta’s Victim) Releases Statement, Asks For Magnotta’s Extradition
The family of Jun Lin has prepared this statement and asked Concordia University to share it with the media. The family is not ready for media interviews at this point:
Open Statement from Jun Lin’s Family June 11, 2012
As Jun Lin’s family, we would first like to express our deepest appreciation to different levels of both the Chinese and Canadian governments, the related embassies and consulates, the Montreal police, Concordia University, the Chinese community and many other kind-hearted people for their goodwill and humanitarian support for us at this exceptionally difficult time. Through the kindness of many people, we were able to arrive in Montreal at the earliest possible time. Soon after our arrival in Montreal last Tuesday night, the Chinese Consulate in Montreal helped to arrange a meeting with Montreal police, city government officials, and Concordia University’s senior administration. Everyone has showed great sympathy and compassionate support to help to make things easier for us. We have come to know so many people, such as the police, members of the Chinese Consulate, the university staff, The Chinese Students and Scholars Association at Concordia University, and Jun Lin’s friends who have been working endlessly to help us out. We are deeply touched by the kindness inspired by this human tragedy. Jun Lin was our beloved son. As the only son in the family, he was our pride and hope. Jun Lin believed in Buddhism. He was very kind and always enjoyed helping others. To his parents, he was a loving and considerate son. To his sister, he was a big brother who was always there for her. The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Concordia University told us he was an excellent student. His employer at the convenience store he worked at called him a model employee. His friends said he was optimistic, ambitious, and open-minded. He always trusted people with a positive approach to life. This tragic loss is not only a devastating attack to our family, but also has had a tremendous impact on the whole society. Love and trust must be rebuilt. We are pleased that Concordia University along with the Concordia Chinese Students and Scholars Association has established Jun Lin Award to assist Chinese students. This award perfectly reflects Jun Lin’s compassionate spirit. We were told that soon after the announcement that Concordia University also established a special fund to help out our family as well as the Jun Lin Award, because so many kind-hearted people have reached out to extend their compassionate support. We are very grateful and moved by the kindness and sympathy for us. It is our wish to take this opportunity to turn a devastating situation into something positive that brings the goodness and peace back to society. We are calling for the extradition of the murderer suspect back to Canada as soon as possible in order to bring justice and peace to our family, the Chinese community and the whole society. To commemorate Jun Lin, please let us remember his kindness, diligence and love for life. Thank you.
Canada: Former Soldier Gets Five Years In Prison For Gay Murder
Jason John Ouiment, a former Canadian soldier who pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a gay man, was yesterday sentenced to five years in prison. In January 2010, he strangled 21-year-old Duane Lacquette (pictured) after waking up to find Lacquette giving him oral sex. From CBC News:
Ouimet said he had fallen asleep, after drinking and hanging out with Lacquette that night, and awoke to find Lacquette sexually assaulting him. He then choked Lacquette to death during an ensuing fight.
“Mr. Ouimet knew that Mr. Lacquette was gay — he had propositioned him earlier in the evening [and] he just said, ‘No, thank you,’” defence lawyer Roberta Campbell told reporters outside court.
“This is about a reaction to an unlawful touching and unwanted touching.”
But Eugene Lacquette, the slain man’s uncle, said family members are hurt by claims that Lacquette may have sexually assaulted Ouimet.
“Just as the defence and Jason portrayed Jon-Jon as a rapist — so-called rapist — we portray Jason as someone that murdered our nephew,” the uncle said outside court.
Ouimet apologized to the family, but it did not bring back their son, whom the family describes as holding humor and love.
Canada: Manhunt Of Bisexual Porn Actor, Luka Magnotta, Goes Global After Gruesome Killing Of His Lover
The Global & Mail News reports:
Police around the world are on the hunt for Luka Rocco Magnotta, who is believed to have flown to France on the weekend shortly after the brutal killing and dismemberment of a man in Montreal.A Montreal police spokesperson confirmed Thursday that investigators “have good reasons to believe that [Mr. Magnotta]has left the country.” They have called on Interpol to place him on the international organization’s list of wanted persons, sending “red notices” to police forces in more than 100 countries. The investigation of the gruesome crime recorded in a video posted to the Internet now appears to be focused on the international manhunt, with the scene of the crime wrapped up even though police are still searching for missing body parts.
The victim, an Asian man in his early 30s who has yet to be named, was reported missing Tuesday, Montreal police Commander Ian Lafrenière said. But the victim’s relatives live outside Canada, and police have been unable to reach them to notify them, another officer said.
Mr. Magnotta and the victim were involved, Commander Lafrenière said. “They were dating. They’ve been involved in a relationship,” he said.
The victim was identified as Lin Jun:
The victim of suspected killer Luka Rocco Magnotta is Lin Jun, a Chinese student at Concordia University who was last seen in public the day before the suitcase with the human torso was discovered, Montreal police have confirmed. He was only reported missing Tuesday.
Police believes he fled Canada to France shortly after the murder, but he could have flown back. Here’s some background on the killer, who’s shown acts of animal cruelty and other signs of his escalating psychopathy:
Cdmr Lafrenière said Mr. Magnotta flew out of Montreal to Europe the day after the killing, on May 26. He said the search for the suspect won’t be restricted to a specific country or police won’t even rule out Mr. Magnotta might have snuck back into Canada. In the wake of kitten-killing videos attributed to Mr. Magnotta, a British tabloid says it received an email last December saying it was “impossible to stop” after tasting blood and warning that the next time “the victims won’t be small animals.” The Sun said that they interviewed Mr. Magnotta, who was living in London at the time, and became concerned the violence could escalate. They notified Scotland Yard, who reportedly said it was not their jurisdiction. In recent days, after a ghastly video showing a man being dismembered and the body sexually interfered with was posted to the Internet, a concerned American tried to raise new warnings. Montana lawyer Roger Renville said he contacted several police forces and media outlets to voice his fears that the video was real. He said he was rebuffed everywhere. On Friday, The Sun, Britain’s biggest selling daily, referenced a story it had done in December about on-line videos showing cats being suffocated and fed to a python. A few days later, they say, Mr. Magnotta turned up at the newspaper to deny involvement. Two days after that, the British paper reports, an email was sent to a pair of addresses used by readers to offer tips. The email address suggested it was from John Kilbride, a child victim of one of Britain’s notorious Moors Murderers. A piece of music linked to those killers was also used on one of the cat-killing videos. “In the near future you will be hearing from me again,” the email said. “This time, however, the victims won’t be small animals. I will however, send you a copy of the new video I’m going to be making. You see, killing is different than smoking… with smoking you can actually quit. Once you kill, and taste blood, it is impossible to stop. The email was badly spelled and indicated a certain arrogance. The writer called it “so fun” that people were trying to catch him. And there was a chilling warning. “Next time you hear from me it will be in a movie I am producing, that will have some humans in it, not just pussys.”
Mr. Magnotta’s family members in Ontario have repeatedly declined to comment on the allegations against him. On Wednesday, an aunt only said, “I’m ashamed that he’s related,” before hanging up the phone. Although his online footprints are extensive, including claims that Mr. Magnotta is a famous model, bisexual adult-film actor and world traveller, his real day-to-day life isn’t easily traceable. Little is known of his whereabouts over the past few years, except for the fact he moved to Montreal recently and that he became the prime suspect in a social media campaign to identify a killer of kittens who began posting videos on YouTube in December, 2010. Evidence gathered in that campaign has been sent to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Ontario SPCA spokesman Brad Dewar confirmed an investigation was launched in February, 2011, but he wouldn’t reveal whether Mr. Magnotta is a suspect. He said the ongoing probe has not found sufficient evidence to suggest the person in the videos was in the province when the footage was recorded. The Ontario SPCA has reached out to law-enforcement and animal-cruelty agencies around the world for help, Mr. Dewar added. The list includes municipal police services in Toronto and Montreal, the RCMP and FBI and an animal-welfare organization in the United Kingdom.
According to Pink News UK, Magnotta was also known as Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov. He is white, 5ft 8in (1.73m) tall with blue eyes and black hair.
He’s wanted for second-degree murder and charges of indignity to human remains.
UPDATE: According to The National Post, he was last spotted at a pub in Paris, and rumours of his arrest in Monaco have been quashed:
A Paris hotel manager told the Montreal Gazette on Saturday that his neighbour, the manager of a bar and restaurant, confirmed to police that Montreal fugitive and suspected killer Luka Rocco Magnotta had a drink at his bar on Thursday. Sbyibi el Bachir, manager of Hotel Studio des Batignolles in the 17th arrondissement in Paris, said in an interview that Dominique Massonneau, manager of Le Petit Batignolles, told him on Saturday that Magnotta stopped by his moderately-priced cafe — and that Massonneau had reported it to police. The information could not be independently verified immediately. Agence France-Presse reported that a witness told the news service that investigators looked at security tapes at Le Petit Batignolles Friday and came out with soft drink bottles, handling them gingerly, apparently in an effort to avoid erasing fingerprints. A man who identified himself as the manager of Le Petit Batignolles — presumably Massonneau — told theGazette: “I know nothing.” “If you want answers, call the police,” he said before hanging up. In a second, shorter call, he refused to give his name or say if he had been asked by police to stay mum. The modestly priced bar/restaurant on Truffaut St. that specializes in Algerian cuisine is in the 17th arrondissement near Place Clichy, where many reasonably priced hotels and restaurants are located. It’s also near the Parc Monceau, where joggers and families mix with others down on their luck. Bachir said that Massonneau did not report Magnotta’s presence on Thursday because he had never heard of the alleged killer accused of dismembering a recently arrived Chinese immigrant in the Cote des Neiges area of Montreal. On Friday, authorities in Monaco were forced to quash rumours the target of an international manhunt for an alleged killing and dismemberment had been arrested in the tiny European principality. As Montreal police revealed there was a possibility Magnotta could have returned to Canada under an assumed identity after fleeing for France on May 26, rumours the fugitive was apprehended in Monaco circulated on Twitter and were published on a English-speaking website in France. But police in Monaco said “they had no seen or heard from the fugitive” when contacted by the Ottawa Citizen. The mere mention of the word “Canada” prompted an officer to ask: “Oh, are you asking about the man who was decapitated?” On Friday, Montreal police also denied Magnotta had been arrested.
RELATED:Apparently, Lin Jun’s loneliness played a part on his fatal end:
The 33-year-old Mr. Lin, who police have suggested might have been romantically linked to the man who murdered and dismembered him a week ago, gave himself the nickname “Justin the Villain” on his Weibo account, a moniker that seems at odds with the soft personality that comes through in most of his postings. But dark thoughts clearly came to Mr. Lin from time to time. On Valentine’s Day last year, he posted a computer-altered photograph of himself with wild purple hair and a cracked face that turns grey around a mouth of broken and missing teeth. “My self-portrait,” he wrote beneath the repulsive image. In another on-line posting a month before he was murdered, Mr. Lin took a photograph of an empty Montreal subway car. His mystifying caption “midnight cannibalism train,” led some Chinese Internet users to speculate Saturday that he was somehow foreshadowing his own gruesome death. (Police say some of Mr. Lin’s body parts were eaten before his hand and foot were mailed to the offices of political parties in Ottawa. Mr. Magnotta flew out from Montreal to Europe the day after the killing, and is the now target of an international police hunt.)
UPDATE: The Vancouver Sun reports that Luka Magnotta has been arrested in Berlin, Germany:
A man dubbed the “Canadian Psycho,” who is suspected of killing and filming the dismemberment of his boyfriend, was arrested in Berlin on Monday, according to a media report.
Mass-circulation daily Bild reported that Luka Rocco Magnotta, a 29-year-old former Canadian gay porn star, was picked up by authorities in an Internet cafe in Neukoelln, a working-class district of Berlin.
CALIFORNIA: Gay Make Up Artist Bobby Khamvongsa, Found Dead In West Hollywood
The Advocate reports:
Gay makeup artist Bobby Khamvongsa was found dead with multiple stab wounds in West Hollywood near the Beverly Center over the weekend. Police arrested Richard Herrera, 29, who also went to high school with Khamvongsa in Kalihi, Hawaii, according to KITV News. Khamvongsa’s family does not know what kind of relationship the two men had. Khamvongsa was originally thought to have been killed by a hit-and-run car accident, but as police began further investigation, they found Khamvongsa had been stabbed several times. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Khamvongsa was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives said they believe Khamvongsa was involved in a dispute with Herrera, which resulted in the victim’s murder. Police are still looking for witnesses or anyone with information about Herrera and Khamvongsa.
Former Sean Cody Porn Star, Jason Andrews (aka Addison), Pleads Guilty To Murder
The Advocate reports:
A former porn star has pleaded guilty to murder and been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. AVN reports that in order to avoid the death penalty Jason Andrews, 28, admitted to his part in the brutal stabbing and bludgeoning murder of 41-year-old tattoo shop owner Dennis “Scooter” Abrahamsen following a sex party in May 2010. Andrews’s alleged accomplice, 28-year-old adult film performer Amanda Logue, had reportedly been hired by the victim to have sex with him on camera. Police in Florida say the pair killed Abrahamsen and took off with $6,000 cash, his credit cards, and a video camera. They were first arrested for trying to use Abrahamsen’s credit card at a Florida Home Depot on May 18, 2010. Authorities didn’t have enough evidence to connect them to the killing, and they were released. Andrews appeared as a gay-for-pay model on SeanCody.com in 2008 under the nom de porn Addison. Logue will be tried on murder charges in May. Read more here.
His videos (NSFW) remain available for viewing despite this. (Not that I’m complaining).
The search for a missing 8-year-old Brooklyn boy ended early on Wednesday when investigators discovered what they believed to be his dismembered remains in a third-floor attic refrigerator of a Brooklyn man and in a trash bin on a street, the police said. The man, who made incriminating statements, was being questioned and was expected to be charged, the police said.NYPD, via Associated PressLeiby KletzkyThe grim discovery capped two days of intense searching for the boy, Leiby Kletzky, who had disappeared Monday while on what was supposed to be a short walk between a Borough Park school and a meeting place with his parents. Police detectives searched his neighborhood and used helicopters to find the boy, who was part of the Hasidic Jewish community. They recovered video from Monday that showed him alive. In the end, the inquiry led to 466 East Second Street, in Kensington, Brooklyn, the home of the suspect, Levi Aron, 35, who was taken into custody at 2:40 a.m., Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said.Mr. Kelly said that the boy was lost and apparently trying to find his way when he encountered Mr. Aron; investigators said that after a conversation, the boy entered Mr. Aron’s vehicle, a 1990 Honda Accord.Mr. Aron told investigators that he had panicked and killed the boy once he realized the extent to which the Hasidic community and the police had mobilized to find the child, Mr. Kelly said. The commissioner said that the police had no evidence that the child had been sexually abused, but that detectives were still investigating.“He panicked, and that is why he killed the boy,” Mr. Kelly said.
There are no words for this kind of barbarism. I just regret that there’s no Hell for this Levi Aron.

The latest sex-abuse case to rock the Catholic Church is unfolding in the archdiocese of an influential Italian Cardinal who has been working with Pope Benedict XVI on reforms to respond to prior scandals of pedophile priests. Father Riccardo Seppia, a 51-year-old parish priest in the village of Sastri Ponente, near Genoa, was arrested last Friday, May 13, on pedophilia and drug charges. Investigators say that in tapped mobile-phone conversations, Seppia asked a Moroccan drug dealer to arrange sexual encounters with young and vulnerable boys. "I do not want 16-year-old boys but younger. Fourteen-year-olds are O.K. Look for needy boys who have family issues," he allegedly said.Genoa Archbishop Angelo Bagnasco, who is the head of the Italian Bishops Conference, had been working with Benedict to establish a tough new worldwide policy, released this week, on how bishops should handle accusations of priestly sex abuse.
As always, you can’t make it up.
TIll when people are gonna stop taking this bunch of kid fuckers as spiritual leaders and start treating them as what they really are?: Elderly kid fuckers in dresses.
What’s the difference between the Catholic hierarchy and those “global pedophile rings” that occasionally get busted? The best I can come up with is ordination, massive real estate holdings, and tax-exempt status. Reuters:
A Belgian Catholic bishop who resigned in disgrace after admitting to sexually abusing his nephew has left the country for “spiritual and psychological treatment” abroad, a Vatican ambassador said on Saturday. Former Bruges Bishop Roger Vangheluwe, 74, went into hiding after shocking the Belgian Church with his public confession in April 2010. He first stayed at a Belgian monastery but later left it, and his exact whereabouts were not made public. Archbishop Giacinto Berloco, the papal nuncio or ambassador to Belgium, said in a statement the Vatican’s doctrinal department had investigated his case and decided he needed to go abroad for treatment. He did not say where the bishop went….
Berloco spoke out after the Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws reported Vangheluwe had taken refuge in the Vatican embassy, a step that would shield him from Belgian justice authorities… “[Vangheluwe’s] departure recalled the 2002 case of Boston Cardinal Francis Law, who quietly slipped out of the United States amid allegations he had actively covered up cases of child molestation by priests in his archdiocese.
You have to wonder what the reaction is at the Vatican when a massive pedophile ring—some other massive pedophile ring—gets busted. (“Asked to comment on the arrests during a press availability today at the Castel Gandolfo, the pope’s summer residence, Benedict XVI shrugged and said, ‘Amateurs.’ The Pontiff drove the point home by repeating his one-word statement in Latin, French, Italian, and his native German.”)
It’s so frustrating that the only “punishment” this sons of bitches get is to go on to retirement to a “life sentence of pray and penitence”. And people still want to Canonize John Paul II. What the fuck is wrong with people?
A gay couple and their friend were brutally attacked while staying at a rented cottage on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia last week. Michael Baker, boyfriend Nick Smith, and their friend Todd Wiggins were returning to their mountaintop cottage Wednesday after taking in the sunset that evening. While Baker and Smith were in the shower, they heard Wiggins scream, warning them to stay in the bathroom. According to Baker’s Facebook account, he looked into the cabin’s common area to see two men with knives and guns, wearing masks, beating Wiggins. Despite a struggle to keep the violent intruders out of the bathroom, they broke through, assaulting Smith and Baker, while telling them they hated white people, gay people, and Americans. The attackers tied the men up, threw them in the shower, and ordered them to get off the island. "They said they would check on us in five minutes, and if we had untied ourselves, they would kill us," Baker wrote. After the attackers left, the men freed themselves from the bindings, and fled the cabin through a back exit, forced to leave their shoes behind, as they left them on the front porch. The three, without shoes, climbed down the mountain, and then walked down an unpaved gravel road until eventually arriving at the home of Wiggins’s friends. Baker and Smith returned to the U.S. the following day, and Wiggins came back the day after. "I don’t know the full motivation that drove these five men, but I do know that I can feel pity for them," Baker wrote. "As Todd said, how horrible that this was the only option that they felt [they had]."
Pope Benedict XVI Faces Crimes Against Humanity Charges
Christian Sailer and Gert-Joachim Hetzelhave filed a 16,500-word complaint with the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court at the Hague, saying they intend to pursue charges against Pope Benedict XVI for crimes against humanity for, among other things, “the establishment and maintenance of a worldwide system of cover-up of the sexual crimes committed by Catholic priests and their preferential treatment, which aids and abets ever new crimes” and “the adherence to a fatal forbiddance of the use of condoms, even when the danger of HIV-Aids infection exists,” and insists the Catholic Church illegally “acquires its members through a compulsory act, namely, through the baptism of infants that do not yet have a will of their own.” This sounds awesome. Also, hilarious.
I dropped my Bible and my joint when I read this. Reading it out loud sounds like heaven (no pun intended). You should try.
