George Michael Confirms Appearance In Olympics Closing Ceremony
Pink News UK reports:
George Michael has confirmed rumours he will appear in the London Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday, suggesting it had been a poorly-kept secret. He tweeted today: “Spending most of the next week rehearsing like crazy for the Olympic closing ceremony. “Obviously a bit nervous not having played for nearly a year, but rehearsals sounding great so far! “Oh, and , secret? It’s been all over the press for weeks, and I think you alll needed to be put out of your misery!” The Spice Girls are expected to reform for the ceremony while bands One Direction and Muse are due to play alongside. The Who and Take That are also reportedly set to take part. Blur, New Order, The Specials and the Bombay Bicycle Club are to play at a concert in Hyde Park.

George Michael Released From Vienna Hospital
CBS News reports:
George Michael was reportedly discharged from a Vienna hospital on Thursday after suffering from severe pneumonia. According to a report in Austrian newspaper, the Oesterreich, the 48-year-old walked out of the hospital and into a limousine that took him to the airport, allowing him to celebrate Christmas at home. The former “Wham!” frontman’s publicist in London told Reuters the newspaper’s report was based on rumors. The Vienna General Hospital has declined to comment. However, British newspapers have been reporting since the weekend that Michael will be home for Christmas, citing the Twitter messages of the singer’s boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz. Michael, a Grammy awarding-winning singer, was hospitalized last month after canceling a performance in the Austrian capital.

George Michael “Steadily Improving” In Pneumonia Battle
The New Zealand Herald reports:
Singer George Michael is on the mend after being hospitalised with severe pneumonia. The 48-year-old was admitted to Vienna’s AKH hospital last week, forcing him to postpone the remaining dates of his European tour. Doctors treating the Careless Whisper star have since issued astatement to update fans on Michael’s condition, saying that while he remains hospitalised, his health is “improving”. Professors Gottfried Locker and Christoph Zielinski said: “The latest development in Mr Michael’s case, which has evolved from a severe pneumococcal infection, necessitated intensive care due to its severity and extension.
“We are happy to announce that Mr Michael is improving steadily with an impressive regression of pneumonic symptoms and follows a steady rate of improvement as hoped.” The doctors also confirmed that despite recent media speculation, the singer is not suffering from any other health issues. Reports in the British press suggested that Michael had developed Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome - a potentially lethal lung condition which stops oxygen getting into the blood. “There are no other health issues with regards to the patient other than the underlying pneumonic disorder, and no further measures had to be taken,” they said. “Michael is receiving precisely the same treatment as any ordinary patient in Austria would receive at the hospital for this disease.” Michael’s rep also told E! News that “George is getting better and better.” Best wishes for a speedy recovery, George!

George Michael Hospitalized
Joe.My.God. reports:
George Michael is reportedly worsening after being admitted on Monday to an Austrian hospital for the treatment of pneumonia. His management has announced the cancellation of the remaining dates on his world tour. Via yesterday’s Vienna Times:
He is currently in intensive care on the 13th floor of the red tower as a result of heart problems believed to be caused by the shortage of oxygen caused by his pneumonia. On Thursday afternoon he was fitted into a special full-body bed designed to keep all the pressure off his lungs and to help them to function - so far without any sign of improvement. Head doctor from the nearby Otto Wagner Hospital, Norbert Vetter, said that the reason a person with a lung problem was being treated in the cardiac unit probably lay in the fact that if there was a lung problem - and not enough oxygen being taken into the body - then that could affect the heart especially if the heart had already been damaged in some way. He added in the worst case the heart could cease to function.
Business Week quotes one of the singer’s doctors as sayinghe has “severe community acquired pneumonia.” Michael’s spokesman confirmed his condition as “bad.” Some tabloids are already rushing out with AIDS rumors and commenters on anti-gay sites like Free Republic are saying exactly the sort of things you’d expect from loving Christians.

George Michael Joins The Trend Of Gay Celebs Hanging With Porn Stars
Queerty reports:
X-Men director Bryan Singer may not be the only one dating (ie. knocking boots) with a pot-smoking gay porn star. According to the gloriously namedShowbitch magazine (NSFW), the shirtless stogie-smoking stud snapped on a Venice balcony with George Michael is gay-porn model Isaac Mazar, who once topped a guy in a Cazzo Club flick called Match Maker. If it’s true, Michael, Singer and Calvin Klein should all take their porn pups on a triple date. That’d be a paparazzi and porn lover’s paradise.
