First Openly Gay Candidate Wins In Tokyo Ward
The Japan Times reports:

OSAKA — Openly gay candidate Taiga Ishikawa won a seat in the Toshima Ward Assembly in Tokyo in Sunday’s election, marking a historic first.
The Toshima race saw 53 candidates vie for 36 seats, according to the ward office. Before the 36-year-old writer and activist, no openly gay person had been elected to public office in Japan."I hope this news will give a hope to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people who still feel isolated from the society," said Ishikawa. "I will do my best to make Toshima Ward more friendly to LGBT people, young people and foreigners."Ishikawa, an advocate of LGBT rights and former secretary to Social Democratic Party leader Mizuho Fukushima, published the book “Boku no Kareshi wa Doko ni Iru?” (“Where is My Boyfriend?”) in 2002 under his real name. In 2004, he founded a nonprofit group that creates chances for LGBT people to make friends.

Japan Earthquake 2011: Emperor Akihito Addresses Nation

Cindy Jacobs: God Devastated Japan Because They Worship Dragons

Joe.My.God. reports:

Whackadoodle “prophet” Cindy Jacobs piles on the growing Christianist claims that God deliberately devastated Japan, where the residents are godless heathens because the country is shaped like a dragon! Or something!

This island, Hokkaido, looks like the head of a dragon with the body being the rest of Japan. The people of Asia have worshipped the dragon for 5,000 years. If one looks at the place where the earthquake took place, it looks like the soft underbelly of most vulnerable part of the dragon. Let’s pray that the deep idolatry and the worship of hundreds of idols under the guise of Shintoism, Buddhism, and allegiances to being “sons of the dragon” will be broken and thousands will turn to the Lord. My interpretation of this is that while God did not want people to perish, He is going to use this to “pierce” the darkness surrounding the Japanese people if we will cry out to God for them in the midst of this crisis … If we respond correctly, the darkness and the grip of idolatry of all forms that has blinded the eyes of so many in Japan will be broken off of them. The faithful believers in Jesus Christ will be strengthened as they are used for great harvest across Asia and the face of the earth.

May Gojira smite Cindy Jacobs with his mighty tail.

What an ass. That’s what stupidity looks like. Wanna say something to her? Here’s her Facebook page, her Twitter, and if you wanna leave a message click here.

For Nate Berkus, The Japanese Tsunami Brings Back A Horrible Memory

JAPAN: Nuclear Crisis Worsens

Joe.My.God. reports:

The New York Times reports:

Industry executives said that in fact the situation had spiraled out of control and that all plant workers needed to leave the plant to avoid excessive exposure to radioactive leaks. If all workers do in fact leave the plant, the nuclear fuel in all three reactors is likely to melt down, which would lead to wholesale releases of radioactive material — by far the largest accident of its kind since the Chernobyl disaster 25 years ago. Reports of an imminent worsening of the problem came after a frantic day and night of rescue efforts focused largely on the No. 2 reactor. There, a malfunctioning valve prevented workers from manually venting the containment vessel to release pressure and allow fresh seawater to be injected into it. That meant that the extraordinary remedy emergency workers have been using to keep the nuclear fuel from overheating no longer worked. As a result, the nuclear fuel in that reactor was exposed for many hours, increasing the risk of a breach of the container vessel and a more dangerous emissions of radioactive particles.

Religious Bitch: God Is Punishing Japan For Atheism

Joe.My.God. reports:

RELATED: Christian missionaries are seizing upon the opportunity offered by the earthquake to convert Japan’s heathens.
"Pray for the church in Japan — the little, tiny church in Japan — that we know how to witness in this difficult time and can use our resources," he requests. "Lots of churches in America [want to help]. Our mission wants to send teams — and of course I said, come. It can only help to give people a vision for this rich, but poor, country that needs the love of Christ so much. And people coming to help shows that as well."

What a redneck! Just when I started to think that there would not be any crazy religion-related-shit over Japan’s earthquake, I run into this bitch thanking his imaginary friend “God” for answering her prayers (that really is just her talking to herself) to open the eyes of Atheist (to whom I call reasonable people). Now, as we all know, Japan is a very secular society (a thing we should all learn) and as many of us know, an earthquake is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth’s crust that creates seismic waves and we all know that that ain’t God shaking Japan by its shoulders. That’s the same thing as saying that thunder is God farting.

Religion just keeps people ignorant. And gives people a free-pass to say crazy shit without realizing (or they may just not give a fuck) the pain and struggle that real victims go through. And thou an earthquake is hardly a consequence of Climate Change, blizzards throughout the US, extreme flooding & droughts are. And for bigoted people like this crazy cunt is why as a society we still can’t move forward effectively on environmental & educational measures.

Again, what a bitch. Never trust someone with their eyes too close to each other.

Video of Japanese Nuclear Plant Explosion

The New York Times reports:

Shortly after the 8.9 magnitude earthquake on Friday that shook Japan and generated tsunami waves across the Pacific Ocean, reports emerged of damage at one of Japan’s nuclear power plants. On Saturday, Japanese authorities began evacuating residents nearby the Fukushima nuclear power plant due to the release of radioactive elements into the environment, signs of a possible meltdown at one of the reactors.
As officials worked to repair damage Saturday afternoon, an explosion occurred at the nuclear power plant, damaging one of the buildings.
The English-language news service Russia Today posted video of the explosion as it occurred to its YouTube channel.
