Spain: Election Threatens To Undo Gay Marriage Law
On Top Magazine reports:
Next month’s general elections threaten to undo Spain’s 6-year-old gay marriage law. The Socialist government of Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, which swept into office in 2004, looks to be on the outs. Polling shows the conservative Popular Party (PP) with a 15-point lead over Socialists. Zapatero’s government legalized gay marriage over the objections of the Catholic Church and the PP, which filed a legal challenged to the law based on technical grounds. Mariano Rajoy, the leader of the PP, has previously said he believes the law is unconstitutional and that he would “change” it even if the nation’s highest court ruled it constitutional. “I will listen to the court, but I don’t like the fact that there is gay marriage and I don’t think it is constitutional,” he told daily El Pais. “What I don’t like is the word ‘marriage.’” While repeal of the law seems doubtful, gay and lesbian couples in the country are taking the threat seriously. In the past several months, a sharp uptick in the number of couples marrying has been reported in the Spanish press.

Moron Of The Week: Linda Harvey
Well, it was about time this bitch was inducted, but here are the reasons:
For thinking she was wrongly described (she’s wants to sue) by Truth Wins Out’s Wayne Besen.
For trying to fool us all by letting us think she’s a lovely person.

VIRGINIA: Conservative “Ex-Gay” Politician Admits Sex With Minor
The Advocate reports:
A conservative running for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates admitted that she had an affair with a female student back when she was a junior high school gym teacher in the 1970s.
Linda Wall told theAssociated Press that she was a different person 40 years ago when she had sexual relations with the unidentified student, who was a minor at the time. In 2006, she admitted under oath that she had been involved with a minor during a defamation hearing.
“I’ve never tried to hide that I was in homosexuality,” she said. “If anybody Googles me, they would find that out there.”
Wall said her conversion to Christianity stopped her addiction to marijuana, and changed her sexual orientation. Since then, she lobbied the Virginia General Assembly to oppose gay rights, marriage equality, and adoption for gay parents as a member of the Family Foundation.
She was never criminally charged, but could still face charges if the former student steps forward. According to the AP, the state of Virginia does not have much of a statute of limitations on sexual offenses.
Wall, a conservative with no party affiliation, is running against Democrat Connie Brennan and Republican Matt Fariss for an open seat in Appomattox, Va., vacated by Del. Watkins M. Abbitt, who is retiring after 26 years. The AP obtained the information about Wall’s sexual past from Paul Jost, a former political challenger who sued Wall for defamatory claims she made during the Republican primary.
On her website, Wall touts her past work in antigay lobbying, and said she would continue to ensure the state pass no gay rights laws.
“For two years, I worked with groups in the state to help pass the Marriage Amendment to the Constitution of Virginia defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman,” she said. “I will defend that amendment and oppose any legislation that attempts to create or recognize any other union, partnership, or legal status to which is assigned the rights or benefits of marriage.”

Family Research Council: Don’t Vaccinate Boys For HPV, Only Queers Get It
Joe.My.God. reports:
The Family Research Council has issued a statement in reaction to yesterday’s CDC recommendation that boys get the HPV vaccine too.
The CDC is quick to point out that the vaccine also protects against anal, mouth, and throat cancer—but they downplay the fact that these cancers are almost entirely the result of men having homosexual sex! Apart from the cost of the shots (upwards of $140 million a year), perhaps the most infuriating aspect of all this is the government’s insistence that we look for ways to minimize the impact of promiscuity instead of working to encourage the end of it. Rather than asking young people to change their behavior, society is scrambling to enable it. It’s like trying to address the problem of drunk driving by making better airbags. We can’t tackle long-term safety with short-term solutions. And unfortunately, tiptoeing around the fundamental problem—premarital sex and homosexual sex—shows how far off course we are.
They really truly want gay men dead.

Herman Cain: I Support Federal Marriage Ban
Joe.My.God. reports:
Tea Party favorite Herman Cain says he’s changed his mindand now supports a federal amendment banning same-sex marriage.
“I think marriage should be protected at the federal level also. I used to believe that it could be just handled by the states but there’s a movement going on to basically take the teeth out of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act and that could cause an unraveling, so we do need some protection at the federal level because of that and so yes I would support legislation that would say that it’s between a man and a woman.”
Even Cain’s endorsers at GOProud are unhappy.
On the video, he speaks about other issues as well, such as his stand on abortion. He tells a story of when he once visited a clinic where women went to have abortions, where he saw (and probably participated as well) people trying to change the women’s minds and have their babies born (by brainwashing them and by making them feel guilty). You can see how a great of package this man is.

For daring to assist to an Economic Summit next week in Vancouver (Do I really need to explain myself?) NEW HAMPSHIRE: Tens Rally Against Marriage
Joe.My.God. reports:
The Family Research Council’s hate bus rolled into Concord, New Hampshire yesterday where tens of people turned out to watch Tony Perkins goosestep around the parking lot of Holiday Inn Express.
Perkins and other opponents of gay marriage made clear yesterday morning at a “Restore Marriage Rally” in downtown Concord that they’ll fight at the State House next year to repeal gay marriage in the state. Christopher Plante, northeast regional coordinator for the National Organization for Marriage, said New Hampshire was the first state to legalize gay marriage through legislation. (Vermont had passed same-sex marriage legislation a few months earlier in 2009 over a gubernatorial veto.) Six states now allow gay and lesbian couples to marry.
According to Perkins, the economy is failing because people aren’t breeding fast enough: “You want to get the economy going again? We need to put a focus on marriage and on children, because that is our future. Look at the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and growing the GDP - we’ll never grow the GDP with a shrinking population.”

Serial Adulterer Newt Gingrich Thinks That Marriage Equality Is A Temporary Aberration
Iowa Caucuses reports:
Same-sex marriage is a temporary aberration that will dissipate, Newt Gingrich said here today. “I believe that marriage is between a man and woman,” Gingrich said. “It has been for all of recorded history and I think this is a temporary aberration that will dissipate. I think that it is just fundamentally goes against everything we know.” Gingrich, who has been married three times and has previously admitted to being a past adulterer, made the statement in response to a question from the audience during an event he held at a Best Western hotel conference room. One Iowa, a civil rights group, said Gingrich’s statements are offense and disrespectful to thousands of gay and lesbian Iowans who are loved by families who belong to all political parties and play active and productive roles within the state’s communities. “Mr. Gingrich’s comments are out-of-touch with Iowans and I don’t think that he is the right person to be lecturing Iowans, or anyone, about loving, committed marriages,” said Troy Price of One Iowa.
