Boy Scouts Shielded Pedophiles
Joe.My.God. reports:

According to a report published yesterday by the Los Angeles Times, the Boy Scouts have shielded hundreds of child molesters from prosecution.
A Los Angeles Times review of 1,600 confidential files dating from 1970 to 1991 has found that Scouting officials frequently urged admitted offenders to quietly resign — and helped many cover their tracks. Volunteers and employees suspected of abuse were allowed to leave citing bogus reasons such as business demands, “chronic brain dysfunction” and duties at a Shakespeare festival. [snip] In the majority of cases, the Scouts learned of alleged abuse after it had been reported to authorities. But in more than 500 instances, the Scouts learned about it from boys, parents, staff members or anonymous tips. In about 400 of those cases — 80% — there is no record of Scouting officials reporting the allegations to police. In more than 100 of the cases, officials actively sought to conceal the alleged abuse or allowed the suspects to hide it, The Times found.

OREGON: Catholic Priest In His Underwear Chases Boy Down Street After Abuse
Oregon Live (The Oregonian) reports:
It was close to midnight Sunday when Woodburn resident James Curths saw the 12-year-old boy running down the street toward him. Curths said the child, panting and out of breath, begged for help, telling him a man was chasing him. Moments later, a man rounded the corner wearing only underwear. He stood a short distance away, trying to wave the boy over as Curths and his sister-in-law prepared to drive the boy to relatives. “He was staring at us,” said Heather Rodriguez, 28, Curths’ sister-in-law, who was also outside. “Then he stood there with his hands on his hips like, ‘You’re really not going to give him to me?’” Rodriguez and Curths, 35, told the man they were calling the police. Only then, they said, did the man jog away. The man who chased after the boy that night, Woodburn police say, was the Rev. Angel Armando Perez, the parish priest at St. Luke Catholic Church in Woodburn. Early Monday, the boy gave police a detailed account of the alleged sex abuse he said occurred at Perez’s home, leading to Perez’s arrest later Monday. Court records released Tuesday detail the alleged abuse and the pastor’s actions after the incident.  “Father Angel touched me” Perez was arraigned in Marion County Circuit Court on Tuesday, appearing via video from Marion County Jail, wearing a black V-neck top with his hands secured in front of his waist. He faced allegations of first-degree sexual abuse, abuse of a child in the display of sexually explicit conduct, furnishing alcohol to a minor and driving under the influence of intoxicants. The Salem boy told authorities that Perez had asked his parents a few days earlier if he could take him on a trip to the mountains. He and his family attended a community church event Sunday night, and the 12-year-old went with Perez that night to the pastor’s house, a grayish-green home less than 200 paces from the church’s front door. The boy told police Perez gave him a beer and they watched a movie. The boy told investigators that an air mattress was set up on the living room floor for him to sleep on. He said he fell asleep on the mattress, the affidavit said. Later, the boy said, he was “woken up by a couple of flashes.” He said that when he opened his eyes, he saw Perez next to the air mattress, with one hand on the boy’s genitals and one hand holding a cellphone. The boy discovered his underwear and shorts lowered to his knees, while Perez was dressed in underwear and a T-shirt, the boy told police. The boy said he went to pack up his things when Perez went upstairs. “Father Angel called to him saying, ‘Come back to bed,’” the police affidavit says. Instead, the boy said goodbye and ran off. Curths, who was hosting a barbecue when the boy showed up outside his house, said he looked distraught. “He just seemed really terrified, and he was almost in tears,” Curths said. When the pastor caught up to the boy outside Curths’ house, wearing what Curths and his sister-in-law said looked like a burgundy Speedo swimsuit, the boy hid behind Curths. “He was scared to death,” Curths said. “It was like someone running from a ghost.” Curths said the boy told him that the man had “touched his privates.” Curths drove the boy to his sister’s house, where the boy told his sister what had happened, the affidavit said. According to the affidavit, the boy told her, “Father Angel touched me in my privates.” He was shaking and appeared scared, the sister told authorities. The boy’s sister alerted her mother, and his father drove to pick up the boy. “I made a mistake” Meanwhile, according to the affidavit, Perez had driven to the boy’s home in Salem to talk to the boy’s mother and brother about 2 a.m. Monday. Perez had a strong odor of alcohol and appeared intoxicated, the brother of the alleged victim told police. The brother told police that Perez’s first statement was, “I am very sorry; I made a mistake.” Perez continued to ask forgiveness, and added, “I didn’t mean to hurt” the child, the boy’s brother told police. “I am just one who serves in the church, and I have sinned; don’t stop believing in the church,” Perez reportedly told the victim’s brother, according to the affidavit. Perez also offered to let the boy’s mother and brother check his phone, saying, “You won’t find anything,” the affidavit said. The relatives asked Perez to leave the house. “This is the last time you will see me,” Perez said before leaving, the brother told police. On Monday, Woodburn detectives interviewed Perez at the Woodburn Police Department. Perez told them he drank too much at the community event. He said he and the boy were given a ride back to his Woodburn home. There, Perez said, he drank another beer, and they watched a movie, the affidavit said. He told police “at some point he blacked out and doesn’t remember what happened,” the affidavit said. Perez told Woodburn Detective Sgt. Nick Wilson that he remembered going upstairs and brushing his teeth, and when he came downstairs, he recalled a look of “disappointment and anger” on the boy’s face, the affidavit said.
Perez, the affidavit said, admitted he drove intoxicated to the boy’s home to apologize and find out what happened. He said he dropped to his knees and begged for forgiveness.

PHILADELPHIA: Top Catholic Official Convicted Of Child Endangerment
Joe.My.God. reports:

In a historic verdict, today a Philadelphia jury found a high-ranking Catholic Church official guilty of child endangermentfor shielding the crimes of pedophile priests. This is the first time an American church official has been convicted of such charges.

Monsignor William Lynn helped the archdiocese keep predators in ministry, and the public in the dark, by telling parishes their priest was being removed for health reasons and then sending the men to unsuspecting churches, prosecutors said. Lynn, 61, had faced about 10 to 20 years in prison if convicted of all three counts he faced — conspiracy and two counts of child endangerment. He was convicted on one of the endangerment counts and acquitted of the other two counts, leaving him with the possibility of up to seven years in prison.
On cross-examination, Lynn acknowledged that he had not helped the 10-year-old altar boy raped by the Rev. Edward Avery in 1999, seven years after Lynn met with another Avery accuser. “And I’m sorry about that,” Lynn said. Avery is in prison after admitting the crime. One of the key exhibits was a gray folder found in a locked safe at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The folder contains a list of 35 suspected predator-priests — and was compiled by Lynn in 1994. At least one priest on the list was a parish pastor until this year. Lynn, the former secretary for clergy, testified that he created the list from secret church files containing hundreds of child sex-abuse complaints.

Bill Donohue is somehow claiming victory.

The witch-hunt has come to an end, and those who have been clamoring for blood lost big time. What made this a witch-hunt was the decision of former Philadelphia D.A. Lynne Abraham to summarily ignore what she was empowered to do in 2001: she was given the charge “to investigate the sexual abuse of minors by individuals associated with religious organizations and denominations.” Had she done so, those cases of minors who may have been sexually molested by ministers, rabbis, and others, would have been investigated. Instead, absolutely nothing was done about these cases.

NEW YORK CITY: Cardinal Timothy Dolan Accused Of Paying Off Pedophile Priests
Last night, it was reported that Cardinal Dolan paid off pedophiles instead of reporting them to the authorities, when he was the Archbishop of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The New York Times reports:

Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York authorized payments of as much as $20,000 to sexually abusive priests as an incentive for them to agree to dismissal from the priesthood when he was the archbishop of Milwaukee. Questioned at the time about the news that one particularly notorious pedophile cleric had been given a “payoff” to leave the priesthood, Cardinal Dolan, then the archbishop, responded that such an inference was “false, preposterous and unjust.” But a document unearthed during bankruptcy proceedings for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and made public by victims’ advocates reveals that the archdiocese did make such payments to multiple accused priests to encourage them to seek dismissal, thereby allowing the church to remove them from the payroll. A spokesman for the archdiocese confirmed on Wednesday that payments of as much as $20,000 were made to “a handful” of accused priests “as a motivation” not to contest being defrocked. The process, known as “laicization,” is a formal church juridical procedure that requires Vatican approval, and can take far longer if the priest objects.

RELADTED: According to the NYT, at a meeting of the Milwaukee’s Archdiocese, at which the then Archbishop of Milwaukee, and now Cardinal Timothy Dolan, discussed a proposal to “offer $20,000 to the child molestors for laicization ($10,000 at the start and $10,000 at the completion the process).” Instead of salary, they would receive a $1,250 monthly pension benefit, and, until they found another job, health insurance.

PENNSYLVANIA: Philly Pedophile Catholic Priest Jokes About Molesting 3 Boys A Week
A jury in Philadelphia has heard the most repulsive testimony yet at an unprecedented trial of a Catholic priest for shielding pedophile collegues. (Via Yahoo News):

In the day’s most startling testimony, a detective read internal church memos about a priest who allegedly “joked about how hard it was to have sex with three boys in one week.” His accuser also stated that the priest had a “rotation process” of boys spending time sleeping with him. Defense lawyers argue that Lynn tried to address the problem as secretary for clergy from 1992 to 2004, but was blocked by the late Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua and others in the Philadelphia archdiocese. The testimony Monday also included a 1992 complaint about a different priest who allegedly molested boys at a church-owned camp three decades earlier. Several junior counselors complained in the early 1960s that the priest was on the prowl at night, molesting them in their tents. They said it was a well-known secret among teen counselors for several years.
According to Joe Jervis, last week Father Edward Avery, Lynn’s co-defendant, abruptly changed his plea to guilty just as the trial was to begin. During his allocution, Avery confessed to molesting parish boys and admitted that his diocese knew about his assaults yet did nothing.

THE HAGUE: Pope Benedict Accused Of Crimes Against Humanity
Joe.My.God. reports:

At the International Criminal Court in The Hague, representatives of victims of child abuse today filed a formal accusation against Pope Benedict and other top Catholic officials, charging them with crimes against humanity for enabling pedophile priests.
The submission, lodged at The Hague on Tuesday, accuses the four men not only of failing to prevent or punish perpetrators of rape and sexual violence but also of engaging in the “systematic and widespread” practice of concealing sexual crimes around the world. It includes individual cases of abuse where letters and documents between Vatican officials and others show a refusal to co-operate with law enforcement agencies seeking to pursue suspects, according to the Centre for Constitutional Rights (CCR), a US-based organisation that represents the claimants. Pam Spees, human rights attorney with CCR, said: “The point of this is to look at it from a higher altitude. You zoom out and the practices are identical: whistleblowers are punished, the refusal of the Vatican to co-operate with law enforcement agencies. You see the protection of priests and leaving them in the ministry and because of these decisions other children are raped and sexually assaulted.”
The above-linked report does not speculate on what legal repercussions, if any, this complaint may actually have on the Vatican or those accused.UPDATE: The Catholic League’s Bill Donohue reacts.
Most cases of molestation did not involve children, and they did not involve rape. The most common victim was a post-pubescent male victimized by homosexuals, the most common offense being “inappropriate touching.” The figures being bandied about are nothing more than a wild guess provided by the Church’s critics; they bear no relationship to reality. How do we know? Because when hard data are available on these matters, the projections are proven wholly inaccurate. Moreover, it is a lie to say that sexual abuse is being covered up at the highest levels of the Vatican. The homosexual scandal took place during the sexual revolution, and most of the offenses ended a quarter-century ago. To charge otherwise is scurrilous. The Holy See is not a member of the ICC, making it difficult to prosecute. Nonetheless, the Catholic League will contact the ICC today, providing documentation of our own that demonstrates how partisan this complaint really is.

See how that Donohue son of a bitch calls those incidents as “the homosexual scandal”?

AUSTRALIA: 26 Suicides Blamed On Pedophile Catholic Priests

Joe.My.God. reports:

Even though 26 suicides have been attributed to the actions of pedophile priests such as Father Robert Best (above), local Catholic officials in Australia say that no inquiry is needed into the deaths. All of the suicides occurred at schools where Best taught. He has pleaded guilty to dozens of counts of child molestation.
Bishop Connors on Tuesday said not even revelations from Detective Sergeant Kevin Carson that 26 young men had killed themselves after being abused by priests and brothers in Ballarat convinced him that more would be learnt from an inquiry. “I think we’ve learnt a lot of things about what is appropriate behaviour and what’s not appropriate behaviour,” Bishop Connors said. “I think people are very well informed nowadays as to what’s inappropriate approaches from a male.” While conceding the abuse of children was wrong, he said that in the past it had not always been clear to everyone what was appropriate and inappropriate behaviour. “In the past a lot of ignorance was there on the part of lots of people. Parents didn’t understand, sometimes bishops didn’t understand. We have no excuse now.”

New York (BRONX): Elderly Catholic Priest Busted For Molesting Teenage Girl

Joe.My.God. reports:

Father Jaime Duenas was busted inside his own rectory yesterday and charged with molesting a teenage girl.

“She didn’t protest to getting a massage,” Duenas said in his cell before his arraignment last night, according to prosecutors. “She was wearing short skirts.” Duenas was arraigned last night on charges of sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. He was released without bond. The judge ordered the priest to stay away from the victim.

Duenas is 87.

And when will the Catholic Church start to turn to the authorities those they know have committed such perverted acts? Never!

Catholic Molestation Study: Priests Were Stressed Out By The Sexual Revolution

Picture: The late Pope John Paul II giving his blessings to pederast Father Marcial Maciel in 2004.
Joe.My.God. reports:

According to a five year study commissioned by the Catholic Church, the real reason all those priests committed child molestation is because they were “poorly prepared and monitored” during the social tumult of the sexual revolution. Blame it on Woodstock.

The researchers concluded that it was not possible for the church, or for anyone, to identify abusive priests in advance. Priests who abused minors have no particular “psychological characteristics,” “developmental histories” or mood disorders that distinguished them from priests who had not abused, the researchers found. Since the scandal broke, conservatives in the church have blamed gay priests for perpetrating the abuse, while liberals have argued that the all-male, celibate culture of the priesthood was the cause. This report will satisfy neither flank. The report notes that homosexual men began entering the seminaries “in noticeable numbers” from the late 1970s through the 1980s. By the time this cohort entered the priesthood, in the mid-1980s, the reports of sexual abuse of minors by priests began to drop and then to level off. If anything, the report says, the abuse decreased as more gay priests began serving the church. Many more boys than girls were victimized, the report says, not because the perpetrators were gay, but simply because the priests had more access to boys than to girls, in parishes, schools and extracurricular activities.

The $1.8M study was conducted by New York’s John Jay College, with the DOJ kicking in $280K.

The problem with the Catholic Church (and many other churches as well), is the mandate on celibate lives for their priests. That doesn’t mean pederasts would stop from existing within the churches but at least it would give a healthy live to all those who aren’t, and it’d be harder for those who are pederasts to operate.

NY Archbishop Timothy Dolan Compares Gay Marriage To Incest And Polygamy
Joe.My.God. reports:

The elderly pedophile-protector in fabulous drag really has nothing.

We are not anti anybody; we are pro-marriage. The definition of marriage is a given: it is a lifelong union of love and fidelity leading, please God, to children, between one man and one woman. History, Natural Law, the Bible (if you’re so inclined), the religions of the world, human experience, and just plain gumption tell us this is so. The definition of marriage is hardwired into our human reason. To uphold that traditional definition, to strengthen it, and to defend it is not a posture of bigotry or bullying. Nor is it a denial of the “right” of anybody. As the philosophers remind us, in a civilized, moral society, we have the right to do what we ought, not to do whatever we want. Not every desire is a right. To tamper with that definition, or to engage in some Orwellian social engineering about the nature and purpose of marriage, is perilous to all of us. If the definition of marriage is continually being altered, could it not in the future be morphed again to include multiple spouses or even family members?
Emphasis motherfucking mine.

What ab asshole.

Catholic League Publishes Full-Page Anti-Gay New York Times Ad

Joe.My.God. reports:

The Catholic League today published a full-page ad in the New York Times in which blowhard Bill Donohue blames the church’s pedophilia scandals on homosexuality. An excerpt:

The refrain that child rape is a reality in the Church is twice wrong: let’s get it straight—they weren’t children and they weren’t raped. We know from the John Jay study that most of the victims have been adolescents, and that the most common abuse has been inappropriate touching (inexcusable though this is, it is not rape). The Boston Globe correctly said of the John Jay report that “more than three-quarters of the victims were post pubescent, meaning the abuse did not meet the clinical definition of pedophilia.” In other words, the issue is homosexuality, not pedophilia. When the National Review Board, a group of notable Catholics, issued its study in 2004, the team’s chief, attorney Robert S. Bennett, said that “any evaluation of the causes and context of the current crisis must be cognizant of the fact that more than 80 percent of the abuse at issue was of a homosexual nature.” One of the members, Dr. Paul McHugh, former psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins, has said that “This behavior was homosexual predation on American Catholic youth, yet it’s not being discussed.” By the way, the figures after 2004 haven’t changed—eight in ten cases involve homosexuality. Worldwide, the Vatican estimates that 60 percent of the cases are same-sex, 30 percent are heterosexual and 10 percent involve pedophilia.

Read the entire ad.

Oh dear. I almost dropped my Bible & my joint when I read this.
How dare he saying that the child rape going on within the Catholic Church ain’t rape nor pedophilia? What a bigot! And of course, it was predictable that somehow, someday, they would be able to twist this and blame the gays for it. Shame on Bill Donohue and the entire Child Rape, Inc. (aka the Catholic Church).

Ordanized Crime [The Catholic Church]
Dan Savage reports:

What’s the difference between the Catholic hierarchy and those “global pedophile rings” that occasionally get busted? The best I can come up with is ordination, massive real estate holdings, and tax-exempt status. Reuters:

A Belgian Catholic bishop who resigned in disgrace after admitting to sexually abusing his nephew has left the country for “spiritual and psychological treatment” abroad, a Vatican ambassador said on Saturday. Former Bruges Bishop Roger Vangheluwe, 74, went into hiding after shocking the Belgian Church with his public confession in April 2010. He first stayed at a Belgian monastery but later left it, and his exact whereabouts were not made public. Archbishop Giacinto Berloco, the papal nuncio or ambassador to Belgium, said in a statement the Vatican’s doctrinal department had investigated his case and decided he needed to go abroad for treatment. He did not say where the bishop went….
Berloco spoke out after the Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws reported Vangheluwe had taken refuge in the Vatican embassy, a step that would shield him from Belgian justice authorities… “[Vangheluwe’s] departure recalled the 2002 case of Boston Cardinal Francis Law, who quietly slipped out of the United States amid allegations he had actively covered up cases of child molestation by priests in his archdiocese.
You have to wonder what the reaction is at the Vatican when a massive pedophile ring—some other massive pedophile ring—gets busted. (“Asked to comment on the arrests during a press availability today at the Castel Gandolfo, the pope’s summer residence, Benedict XVI shrugged and said, ‘Amateurs.’ The Pontiff drove the point home by repeating his one-word statement in Latin, French, Italian, and his native German.”)

It’s so frustrating that the only “punishment” this sons of bitches get is to go on to retirement to a “life sentence of pray and penitence”. And people still want to Canonize John Paul II. What the fuck is wrong with people?

Catholic Church Fights CT Move To Lift Statute Of Limitations On Molestation

Joe.My.God. reports:

Connecticut lawmakers says they are shocked by the Catholic Church’s opposition to a proposed lifting of the statute of limitations on lawsuits for the sexual abuse of minors.

“I’m just so surprised they are opposing this. We certainly had the sense last year that they would not,” Sen. Beth Bye, D-West Hartford, said of the bill she proposed that eliminates the limitation on civil suits prospectively. Bills that would have removed any limitation on when a suit could be brought retroactively, aimed to a large extent at the childhood victims of Dr. George Reardon, a former physician at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, failed to go forward in 2009 and 2010. More than 100 lawsuits have been brought against Reardon, who died in 1998, and against St. Francis. Police say more than 50,000 slides of child pornography found in the home where Reardon once lived had belonged to the doctor, who practiced medicine at St. Francis for more than 30 years.

Current Connecticut law permits lawsuits for 30 years after a minor victim’s 18th birthday. One advocate for victims of childhood sexual abuse says that half of her clients come forward after the time limit has expired.

I ain’t surprise. Are you serious? Of course they don’t want that to change. Child Rape, Inc. (aka the Catholic Church) will have a serious demand issue of priest if all the rapist were found in trial.
