Andrew Sullivan On The Best (Steve Jobs) & Worst Of America (Sarah Palin)
I was at the gym when the news [that Palin wasn’t running] broke, hence the late post. And, of course, the news was juxtaposed by the untimely death of Steve Jobs. Leonard Cohen once said of America that it was “the cradle of the best and the worst”. Today, we lost one of the very best in American history, a reticent genius and entrepreneur, an inspiration for countless of us who has changed the very fabric of our lives. And we also saw the end of the road for one of the very worst: a nasty, callow, delusional, vicious know-nothing, brewed in resentment, and whose accomplishments could fit on a postage stamp.
It’s a fitting comparison: achievement versus resentment, creativity versus narcissism, hope versus fear. I know which one will get the bigger headlines tomorrow. And there is some comfort in knowing it will pain her.
Clearly it is not the first time she rides something wild. And why on Earth would she ever go to West Hollywood?Bristol Palin Gets Crazy-Homophobe In West Hollywood
Mike Tyson: Palin Met The Wombshifter
Joe.My.God. reports:
Former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson has an interesting take on the allegation that Sarah Palin once hooked up with NBA star Glen Rice, who reportedly has a monster-sized endowment.
Though Tyson was stoked that Palin was into black guys, he doesn’t think Rice is the kind of guy who would have given it to her the way he would want. “Glen Rice is a wonderful man. He’s a wonderful guy,” Tyson said, “But you want her to be with somebody like [Dennis] Rodman getting up in there. Pushing her guts up in the back of her head! Glen Rice is a nice, mellow, docile man, non-threatening black guy — you want someone like Rodman — yeah baby! Imagine Palin with a big old black stallion ripping — yeehaw! When you think of Glen Rice, you don’t think of him coming back from Georgia and just slamming. You don’t think of that stuff! Sarah Palin, she met the wombshifter.”

Savage Wants Palin for “It Gets Better”
The Advocate reports:
Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and Rick Santorum are among the names on Dan Savage’s wish list for the “It Gets Better” video campaign, according to an interview with Timemagazine.
In the interview, Savage is asked about the inspiration for the campaign. “Last summer I was reading about teen suicides, speaking at colleges and thinking that what I should be doing is going to high schools. But I would never get permission, as a gay adult, to speak to gay kids. Then it occurred to me that in the YouTube era, I was waiting for permission I no longer needed.”
But the revelation of the interview is undoubtedly Savage’s wish list for future “It Gets Better” participants. “Rick Santorum. Tim Pawlenty. Sarah Palin. Glenn Beck. The Prime Minister of Britain, who leads the Conservative Party there, made a video, and we haven’t seen one from anyone on the right in the U.S. to even say, ‘You’re 14 and gay. Don’t kill yourself.’”
Oh no, she didn’t! She did not just tell to Miss Griffin what to do. That bitch is going down hard. Can’t wait for Kathy’s next Bravo Special.Sarah Palin: Kathy Griffin Is A 50 Year Old Bully And Has-Been Comedian
Kathy Griffin: ‘Glee’ Guest Star
As Palin-Inspired Character?
The Huffington Post reports:
Well if this isn’t the most perfect casting job in history.
Kathy Griffin, who has sparred with the Palin family incessantly over the last two years, is now set to play a character inspired by their matriarch on “Glee”. Really. TVLine reports that the comedienne — who most recently called Bristol Palin “the white Precious” in a standup routine during a USO trip — is set to play a Tea Party candidate mom and regional finals judge on the musical comedy.
While TVLine says that a source tells them that the character, to be named Tammy Jean, “really isn’t anything like Palin,” the casting breakdown the show put out may indicate otherwise.According to Movie Line, the show was in search of a “recent Tea Party candidate and home schooler — a Sarah Palin type.”
Either way, the casting is a bit of a culmination of a close relationship Griffin has had with the “Glee” cast. In October, she appeared with cast members at an LGBTQ advocacy event at Occidental College in California, and shared an on-stage kiss with Chris Colfer. And, she’s gotten chummy withthe show’s teacher and adult figure, Matthew Morrison.
As for Griffin and the Palins, there’s an even longer history there. Griffin has flirted and even taken as a date Bristol Palin’s ex-fiance, Levi Johnston, and has promised to offend another Palin in 2011.
So will she take them on — or even play them sympathetically? Last June, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy hinted that perhaps his show was ready to be nicer to the Tea Party.
“We’ve taken a couple jabs at the right wing this year,” he said to TV Guide. “So what I want to do with this character is have someone who Christian kids and parents can recognize and say, ‘Oh, look — I’m represented there, too!’ If we’re trying to form a world of inclusiveness, we’ve got to include that point of view as well.”
No matter what, the episode should be very, very interesting.
Indeed, very interesting should be.
