Madonna As Norma Desmond?
The Advocate reports:

Andrew Lloyd Webber thinks Madonna would make the perfect Norma Desmond in a film version of his musical Sunset Boulevard, but he says she won’t even talk with him on the phone about the movie.“She’s the right age,” Webber said on Piers Morgan Live! earlier this week. “I’ve not got through to her. She hasn’t taken my call this time.”Michael Musto suspects its the age thing that has Madonna running scared in an article for The Village Voice. “…Performers—especially women—tend to shy away from roles in which they play characters advancing towards the afterlife.”Musto’s column comes on the heels of his April Fool’s joke in which he said Madonna was being awarded a special Oscar for acting. Madonna won a Golden Globe for starring in the movie musical Evita.

I love Madonna as much as the next guy (and living in a gay neighbourhood in downtown Vancouver, that might be too much to say) and yes, she won a Golden Globe for “Evita”, but does anybody really thinks of her as a serious actress? I mean, I don’t think she has the versatility to act as Cher, Barbra or any other singer-actress. But still, I’d totally watch her movies (not more than once, but still).
