“The loss of an icon and superstar like Whitney Houston is devastating. However, it can’t compare to the loss of a mother, daughter, niece and friend, so my heart goes out to her family, to whom she was so much more.”

Obama to Raise Money in N.Y. With Gays and Whoopi
The Advocate reports:
President Barack Obama will attend two campaign fund-raisers in New York next week, one with Whoopi Goldberg and the other featuring high-profile gay donors. An official from Obama’s campaign confirmed the events, both of which are scheduled for June 23. The president, who held three fund-raisers in Miami this week, has been raising money since the April announcement of his reelection bid. The Goldberg fund-raiser will be hosted by Sister Act, the Tony-nominated musical she produced. Tickets for the June 23 show will range from $250 to $10,000. The other event is slated to be emceed by Neil Patrick Harris and will feature Rep. Patrick Murphy, chief sponsor of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” repeal legislation, and Joel Burns, a Fort Worth, Texas, City Council member and It Gets Better contributor. Earlier this week first lady Michelle Obama attended a fund-raiser at the home of gay couple Michael S. Smith and James Costos in Los Angeles. Smith decorated the White House for the Obama administration, and Costos is an executive at HBO. The event, with 300 people in attendance, raised more than $1 million. Celebrities at the fund-raiser, with tickets ranging from $1,500 to $35,800, included Vanessa Williams, Drew Barrymore, Brian Grazer, Ryan Phillippe, and Ellen and Portia DeGeneres.

Tony Awards 2011: Whoopi Goldberg’s Sister Act - Patina Miller & Company
I ain’t religious, but gosh, that was like heaven.
Well, as I posted this past weekend, they all (well, Joy Behar was on instead of Barbara) had strongly denounced Sarah Palin’s map with the crosshairs. Surprisingly, Sherry was the toughest.
Consistency, ladies. Consistency.

Whoopi Goldberg for New Yorkers for Marriage Equality
Wednesday, December 1, 2010
“Mr. Reagan, did you explain…that sometimes ignorant people act in such a way [toward people with AIDS] that it is frightening.… How long is it going to take before people get smart…educated people? We’re not talking about illiterate people. We’re talking about senators and congressmen and the fucking president.”

Joy, Barbara & Whoopi Make A Pledge
Joe.My.God reports:
This morning Joy Behar announced on The View that she is making a $5000 donation to the NYC-based AIDS charity God’s Love We Deliver “in Sharron Angle’s name.” Whoopi Goldberg: “You know what, I’m gonna match that, baby.” Barbara Walters jumped in, “I’ll match that too, but because it’s a good cause, not because it’s political.”
Sharron Angle, helping poor people with AIDS whether she likes it or not!
